In 859AD, the once powerful Tang Dynasty is now ruled by an incompetent Emperor and a corrupt government. Many rebel factions have emerged, and chief among them is the underground alliance, House of Flying Daggers, which, Robin Hood-like, steals from the rich and gives to the poor. Even the death of its leader has failed to destroy the group that continues to grow stronger under its new leadership.
Two government officers, Leo (Andy Lau) and Jin (Takeshi Kaneshiro) are ordered to capture the mysterious new leader, and are given a deadline of 10 days. The focus of their assignment is Mei, a blind courtesan whom Leo suspects is the daughter of the previous leader of House of Flying Daggers. Believing that Mei can lead them to the rebels’ secret base, the two officers devise a plan in which Jin pretends to rescue Mei, who has been imprisoned after refusing to divulge any information about the insurgents. Jin convinces Mei that he is a warrior known as Wind and the two go on the run.
During their escape, they are attacked by other warriors who are unaware of Jin and Leo’s undercover operation. These overwhelming action sequences are some of the most visually jaw-dropping and breathtakingly choreographed moments of cinema that you will see.
As their journey progresses, Jin and Mei begin to fall in love - but House of Flying Daggers is also about different layers of deception, secrets and betrayal in which not everything is what it seems.
