Throughout history, many great artists have depicted the tortures of Hell.
But never before has anyone dared suggest that Hell is a place where an elephant sits on your car.
The winner of three AFI Awards including Best Picture and Best Director BLISS is the contraversial Australian film that both shocked and thrilled audiences at the 1985 Cannes Film Festival. A highly original and entertaining comedy about a man who so misunderstood the world that he almost got it right!
Harry Joy (Barry Otto) is a good fellow, a genial storyteller and a successful advertising executive. But Harry's death changes his life.
In the four minutes of Harry's death, he recognises the worlds of pleasure and pain. Brought abruptly back to life, Harry finds the comfortable images of his former existence with his wife Bettina (Lynette Curran) and his teenage children have dissolved into uncertainty. With fumbling sincerity he sets about discovering the truth... and finally with Honey Barbara (Helen Jones), a beautiful child of nature, Harry follows the path to bliss.
