Warner Vision invites you to join Morcheeba as they perform their greatest hits live at Brixton Academy.
This very special DVD from the UK's 'trip-hop combo', includes a stunning performance of their signature track Trigger Hippie, seminal work from 98's Big Calm album and tracks from Charango, the bands fourth and most recently released album. Morcheeba 'From Brixton to Beijing' will be released on 30th June 2003.
Following on from a successful tour of the UK, in wake of the release of Charango, Morcheeba added two extra dates to the schedule and performed at the Brixton Academy in November 2002. Those fans lucky enough to grab tickets for the sell out gig were treated to a night of beautiful and hypnotic broken beats, busted blues and sublime vocals.
The band chose to open the set with renditions of The Sea and Friction, both tracks from Big Calm, Morcheeba's second album. The tempo for the evening steadily increased with a samba version of Love Sweet Love, momentarily brought down again with a very cool rendition of Trigger Hippie. The finale was a revue-style band intro followed with a guitar heavy performance of Rome Wasn't Built in a Day.
On stage cameo appearances from the likes of Spikee Tee, high-octane rapper Pacewon, the legendary Kurt Wagner from Nashville band Lambchop and "Our Graham", the singer from little known duo Kayak, made the evening extra special for a band that thrives on delivering the unexpected and never fails to disappoint.
From Brixton to Beijing also includes an insightful documentary covering the band's tour of China in March 2003. Morcheeba were invited by The British Council, working under the title Think UK, to bring the best of Britain's originality, creativity and innovation to China as part of a series of high profile events and exhibitions.
In between buying copious amounts of fake watches, climbing the Great Wall and tobogganing back down, Skye, Paul and Ross performed in Chongqing, Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen. Footage of the band attending press interviews and talking about their experiences in China is interspersed with performances from their March 8th gig in Beijing.
