When Doctor Emilio Lizardo's experiments with the eighth dimension go awry, he's possessed by an evil alien presence known as John Whorfin and committed to an insane asylum. Years later, Dr. Lizardo/John Whorfin discovers that the renowned scientist, surgeon, rock star Buckaroo Banzai has succeeded where he failed. Escaping from the psycho ward, Dr. Lizardo/John Whorfin sets out to capture Buckaroo Banzai's invention that will allow him to return to his own dimension. Buckaroo and his group, the Hong Kong Cavaliers, are the only ones that stand between success and annihilation.
