The bickering landlords from Man About The House, George & Mildred Roper, are forced to move, allowing Mildred a chance to climb the social ladder & purchase a house in middle suburbia. Forever striving to rise to their new surroundings, Mildred is constantly betrayed by George & his working class roots. Equally dismayed are their new neighbours, headed by the snooty Jeffrey Fourmile, who fears he’ll be forever “knee deep in ferrets & pigeon droppings”!
Premiering 5 months after Man About The House came to an end, George & Mildred would go on to greater fame & huge audience numbers becoming a firm favourite with the public to this day. Yootha Joyce & Brian Murphy became synonymous with their roles – the series being constantly repeated here and overseas. It is considered one of the jewels in the huge Thames library of sitcoms.
Umbrella Entertainment presents the entire first series of George & Mildred, all 10 episodes on 1 DVD, complete & uncut for the first time, including rare original ad caps & Thames logo.
