Nitro director Alain DesRochers is set to helm the jungle action horror The Rising, Heat Vision reports. Inspired by pulp heroes like Doc Savage, the story centers on a mercenary team searching for a missing person in the Cambodian jungle where they encounter a vampire.

Former Chuck star Zachary Levi is in early talks to replace Josh Dallas as Fandral in Marvel's upcoming Thor sequel, Heat Vision reports. Dallas' commitments to ABC's Once Upon a Time are preventing him from reprising the role. Levi was in talks to originally play the role in the 1st film but had to bow out due to his Chuck commitments.

Cary Fukunaga has been set as the director of a proposed film adaptation of horror writer Stephen King's classic 1986 novel It, reports Heat Vision. Fukunaga and co-writer Chase Palmer are envisioning the adaptation as a two-film piece.

Deadline reports that Disney has made a pre-emptive pitch deal for The Stuff of Legend, an adaptation of the fantasy graphic novel by Mike Raicht & Brian Smith. Pete Candeland is attached to direct while Shawn Christensen will pen the script.

Sony Pictures has announced it is developing Tonka, an animated film based on Hasbro's 65-year-old kids toy car brand. Adam Sandler's Happy Madison Productions will co-produce the film with Sony Pictures Animation.
