Cary Fukunaga has been set as the director of a proposed film adaptation of horror writer Stephen King's classic 1986 novel It, reports Heat Vision. Fukunaga and co-writer Chase Palmer are envisioning the adaptation as a two-film piece.
Disney looks for Stuff of Legend
Deadline reports that Disney has made a pre-emptive pitch deal for The Stuff of Legend, an adaptation of the fantasy graphic novel by Mike Raicht & Brian Smith. Pete Candeland is attached to direct while Shawn Christensen will pen the script.
Hemsworth is In the Heart of the Sea
Aussie actor Chris Hemsworth is attached to star in the fact-based disaster tale In the Heart of the Sea, Deadline reports. Based on the book by Nathaniel Philbrick, the tale also served as the inspiration for Moby Dick.
Sony drives Tonka pic
Sony Pictures has announced it is developing Tonka, an animated film based on Hasbro's 65-year-old kids toy car brand. Adam Sandler's Happy Madison Productions will co-produce the film with Sony Pictures Animation.
Ultimate Spider-Man swings in for 2nd season
Disney XD has renewed Marvel's hit animated series Ultimate Spider-Man for a second season. The new season will see Spider-Man teaming up with the Avengers, who all had appearances throughout the 1st season.
Jackson joins RoboCop reboot cast
Avengers co-star Samuel L. Jackson has joined the cast of director Jose Padilha's remake of the sci-fi classic RoboCop, Heat Vision reports. Jackson will play charismatic media mogul Pat Novak. Shooting kicks off in September in Toronto.
Shooter sequel Sword unsheathed
Robert Kamen has been hired to adapt Stephen Hunter's 2008 novel The 47th Samurai into the feature The Sword, Heat Vision reports. The film features ex-marine Bob Lee Swagger tasked with finding a priceless katana. Another of Hunter's Swagger novels, Point of Impact, was previously adapted into the 2007 action film Shooter.
DC's Justice League gets new writer
Following the success of Marvel's The Avengers, it should come as no surprise that DC's Justice League has gotten a new writer with Gangster Squad scribe Will Beall working on a new script, according to Variety.
