Meyers vamps out for NBC Dracula series
NBC has given a straight-to-series order of 10 episodes for the new horror series titled simply Dracula, Deadline reports. The Tudors star Jonathan Rhys Meyers will play the iconic vampire lord in the series, which will be set in the 1890s & has been described as "Dangerous Liaisons meets The Tudors."
VH1 gets Bounce for new series
VH1 has ordered its second hourlong scripted series with the pilot Bounce being picked up to series, Deadline reports. Dean Cain, Taylour Paige, Kimberly Elise, Logan Browning, & Charlotte Ross will star in the series which follows the lives & loves of the Los Angeles Devil Girls dance team.
Campbell to reboot Blake's 7?
Casino Royale director Martin Campbell & Georgeville Television are teaming up for a proposed revival of Terry Nation's cult 70's British sci-fi series Blake's 7, Deadline reports. Heroes writer Joe Pokaski is penning the script.
Despicable Minions get own movie
The adorable Minions from Despicable Me are set to get their starring turn in a new untitled animated feature spin-off from Universal scheduled for release in 2014, Deadline reports. Despicable Me co-director Pierre Coffin will helm with The Lorax's Kyle Balda co-directing.

Dean Geyer & Jacob Artist are set to join the cast of Fox's Glee for its upcoming fourth season, Deadline reports. South African-born Aussie actor Geyer, whose past work includes Neighbours & Terra Nova, will play a love interest for Rachel, while Blue Lagoon: The Awakening co-star Artist will play Puck's half-brother.
Dark Knight Rises tops Box Office
The Dark Knight Rises opened this past weekend in the US to the tune of US$161.8 million at the box office, giving it the biggest 2D opening weekend ever & surpassing The Dark Knight to become the 3rd best US opening weekend overall. Locally, the film took in AU$15.1 million in its first four days, making it the 4th biggest Australian opening weekend.
Branagh to direct himself in Jack Ryan reboot
Kenneth Branagh is set to co-star as the villain opposite Chris Pine's Jack Ryan in the reboot of the series based on Tom Clancy's action thriller novels that he is also set to direct, Variety reports. Principal photography is expected to begin in September.
