HBO renews Veep, Girls
Deadline reports that HBO has given early second season pickups to its two new comedy series' Veep, starring Julia Louis-Dreyfus as the newly-minted US Vice President, and Girls, starring Lena Dunham as one of a group of girls in their early 20s.
Hatcher to recur on Jane By Design
Desperate Housewives co-star Teri Hatcher is set to join ABC Family's Jane By Design for four episodes as the titular character's long-lost mother, Deadline reports. Hatcher will also make her directorial debut by directing an episode of the series.
Stewart heads to Cali
Twilight's Kristen Stewart is set to star in the upcoming new action film Cali, Variety reports. Stewart woiuld play a young woman who fakes her death with a snuff film only to return in order to save her sister. 30 Minutes or Less scribe Michael Diliberti is penning the script. No director is currently attached.
Selick to helm Gaiman's Graveyard Book
Coraline director Henry Selick is set to adapt another Neil Gaiman property after Disney bought the movie rights to Gaiman's bestselling children's title The Graveyard Book, Deadline reports. The book tells the story of a child who is raised by ghosts in a graveyard.
Daredevil reboot back on Fox's radar
Fox have tasked David James Kelly with rewriting the script for their planned Daredevil reboot, Deadline reports. Kelly is reportedly working off the Born Again story arc which sees the Kingpin learning Daredevil's secret identity. Twilight Saga: Eclipse helmer David Slade is attached to direct.
Raimi to produce Poltergeist remake
Evil Dead director Sam Raimi is set to produce a remake of the 1982 horror classic Poltergeist for MGM, The Hollywood Reporter's Heat Vision reports. Like the original, the story will focus on a family whose daughter is taken by ghosts.
Kloves to helm new Jungle Book take
Deadline reports that Harry Potter series screenwriter Steve Kloves is making a deal with Warner Bros. to write, direct & produce a new live action adaptation of Rudyard Kipling's classic story The Jungle Book. Warner is planning a darker version, more in keeping with Kipling's classic tale than Disney's 1967 cartoon version.
Fringe gets 1 more season from Fox
The Fox network has reached a deal with Warner Bros. TV that will see sci-fi drama Fringe return for a fifth season, Variety reports. 13 new episodes have been ordered in what will likely be the show's final season.
