Mikkelsen as Thor 2 villain?
Mads Mikkelsen is in talks to star as the villain in director Alan Taylor's Thor 2, Variety reports. Most of the cast from the original, including Chris Hemsworth & Tom Hiddleston, are set to return. The film is set for release in the US on November 15, 2013.
Bowler to play Burton in biopic
Lifetime has cast New Zealand actor Grant Bowler in the role of Hollywood great Richard Burton opposite Lindsay Lohan's Elizabeth Taylor in the romantic biopic Liz & Dick, Deadline reports. Filming is set to begin on June 4.
Hopkins sought as RED 2 villain
Anthony Hopkins is in talks to play the villain in RED 2, Deadline reports. The actor's involvement is dependant upon his commitment to reprising his role as Odin for Thor 2 which is set to begin shooting in August.
Iron Man 3 gets US$60 million upgrade
Latino Review reports that, after the success of The Avengers movie, Marvel Studios has upped the budget of Iron Man 3 from US$140 million to US$200 million. Production on the threequel began yesterday in Wilmington, North Carolina.
Oldman to build new RoboCop
Gary Oldman will star opposite Joel Kinnaman in Jose Padilha's remake of sci-fi classic RoboCop, Heat Vision reports. Oldman will play the scientist who turns Kinnaman's character Alex Murphy into the cyborg RoboCop. Filming is set to begin in September.
Trank to helm Colossus game adaptation
Chronicle helmer Josh Trank is set to direct a live-action adaptation of the best-selling Sony action fantasy game Shadow of the Colossus, Deadline reports. Trank is reportedly a big fan of the game & sought out the job. The game's plot sees a young man tasked with slaying 16 giant beasts in order to save his love.
G.I. Joe 2 delayed til 2013
Deadline reports that, in a surprise move, Paramount has delayed the release of director Jon Chu's G.I. Joe: Retaliation, originally set for Aussie cinemas on August 2, until early-mid 2013 in order to convert the film to 3D. Paramount had already begun advertising for the film's June 29 release in the US.
Waugh feels Need for Speed?
Act of Valour co-director Scott Waugh has been offered the director's chair for DreamWorks adaptation of the EA racing game series Need for Speed, Deadline reports.
