Silver Brumby, The (1993)

Description

In Australian parlance, a "brumby" is a wild horse appearing in legends. This family drama is based on a novel by Elyne Mitchell that records many of her personal experiences living in the high, mountainous regions of the state of Victoria. In the story, a wild silver stallion colt quickly grows to adulthood and replaces his father as the leader of a herd of horses. The beautiful and intelligent horse is desired by a ruthless mountain man, who is unable to capture it on his own. In fact, when he buys a mare captured from the stallion's herd, the horse rescues her from him. In revenge, he determines to kill or capture the stallion no matter what. Unable to capture such a primordially wild creature, he winds up killing it, and now the ghost of the silver brumby roams the mountains.
