Description
Adaptated from the best-selling Paul Bowles novel, this epic tale of a New York couple’s life and death journey through the forbidding Saharan desert is beautifully realised through Bertolluci’s direction and the sublime photography of Oscar-winner Vittorio Storaro (Apocalypse Now, The Last Emperor). John Malkovich and Debra Winger star as itinerant, upper class New Yorkers traipsing through North African before their shallow marriage is marred by adultery and deceit. When her husband falls seriously ill, Winger finds herself alone in the hostile desert, cut off from everything she knows.
