Description

When their parents refuse to buy them a television, two young boys rebel by taking a vow of silence. Their oath becomes a community issue when they refuse to even say good morning—or, “ohayo!”—to their parents’ friends, causing a neighbourhood quarrel. This remake of I WAS BORN BUT… is typically focused on the dissolution of the family, but translates the melancholic subject into the realm of Jacques Tati-esque farce.
