Man vs Wild with Bear Grylls - Destination Arctic Circle (Discovery Channel)

Armed with British SAS training and an extreme adventurer's spirit, Bear ventures into popular adventure holiday destinations in The Arctic Circle and navigates his way back to civilisation from Iceland and Norway.

Iceland: Half a million tourists visit every year to see the freezing glaciers, the steaming geothermal areas, and the huge black sand deserts of Iceland. Out of those, 1,000 need to be rescued. Bear demonstrates how to make a snow cave, find water in deep tunnels, and avoid frostbite. Finding food is a problem. Bear is forced to eat a sheep's eyeball and catch a ptarmigan - a wild grouse. Iceland is notorious for its changeable weather and Bear has to deal with Blizzards and 50 mph winds as he attempts to reach safety.

Norway: Bear Grylls heads for the icy wastes of the Arctic Circle, where he tackles frozen waterfalls, hunts wild reindeer battles against some of the coldest conditions on the planet. Using his parachute as an improvised kite, he crosses a vast frozen lake, and then plunges neck deep into a frozen river. When he finally makes the safety of the coast his adventure is far from over as he must make a raft from bits of washed up debris to reach the outer islands of the huge fjord.
