la Maison de Nina

Description

Starting in 1944 at the beginning of France's Liberation and progressing through to the 1960s, LA MAISON DE NINA tells the tale of the unsung heroes of the war: the people who dedicated their lives to helping the many orphaned children. Due to the horrors of World War Two, countless children - many of whom were Jewish - were left without parents. During and immediately after the war many of these children found special homes, such as one run by the selfless and courageous Nina. Here, children of all ages are provided with the security and love they need to help them overcome their own torturous memories and the reality of their futures. But life at Nina's is not always tranquil, with the conflicts of the outside world often threatening to intrude. Director Richard Dembo draws on his own memories of these "houses of hope" (where he went on summer vacation when he was a child) and the real-life Nina who inspired the script to create a story of hopeful optimism in a time of the deepest despair.
