Killer Net (Lynda La Plante)

A CD Rom game that starts as a test of the player’s ingenuity suddenly explodes into horrific reality when one of the ‘victims’ is found dead.

Scott Miller (Tam Williams), a psychology student is beguiled into the seedier side of the net when he meets Charlie (Cathy Brolly), in a chat room and later in real life. They begin a passionate but volatile relationship, and Charlie introduces him to the world of online porn and interactive link-ups. Scott’s obsession with the internet builds and he acquires a limited edition CD Rom game called Killer Net in which the player is challenged to pull off the perfect murder. The aim of the game is to stalk and murder a ‘victim’, dispose of the body and avoid the police’s suspicions; Scott and his flatmates Joe (Paul Bettany) and Susie (Emily Woof) become hooked on the game and eventually complete their first ‘murder’. The game soon turns into a grim nightmare as a real life carbon-copy murder is perpetrated and Scott finds himself under arrest.
