Karajan - Brahms: Ein Deutsches Requiem (DTS)

Description

Johannes Brahms’ magnificent “German Requiem” in a live performance from the Salzburg Easter Festival with the Berliner Philharmoniker, Wiener Singverein and the soloists Gundula Janowitz and José van Dam under Herbert von Karajan, recorded 1978 and presented for the first time on DVD in 5.1 DTS Surround Sound.

Maestro Karajan focuses on the gentle, comforting aspect of the work, presenting it as a Requiem for the living.

Written for soprano and baritone solo, chorus and orchestra, the "German Requiem'' was performed for the first time in its entirety at the Leipzig Gewandhaus on 18 February 1869.
