With a backdrop of a booming boatyard, and characters drawn from the business and yachting set of the fictional south-coast town of Tarrant, this is Thatcher-era TV at its finest: aspirational, entrepeneurial and full of conspicuous consumption. Through the programme's run the plots got wilder, the bed-hopping more frantic and the shoulder-pads grew ever wider.
