Description
In the town of Julia South Carolina, the residents of Gospel Hill are being forced out of their homes to make way for a multimillion dollar development. The callousness with which the white developers break this news to the mostly black residents of the neighbourhood reignite the sparks of racial hostility felt thirty years earlier when Peter Malcolm (Samuel L. Jackson), a black civil rights activist, was assassinated. John Malcolm (Danny Glover), who withdrew from the civil rights battle following his brothers murder, reluctantly finds himself once again at the centre of the controversy. John's wife Sarah (Angela Bassett), never gave up on the cause for which her brother in law died, and when a new school teacher, Rosie (Julia Stiles), arrives in the town, the two women join forces in the fight against the development. But when the malicious former sheriff is forced to reflect upon his past hatreds, his life and the lives of all who live in Gospel Hill intertwine to fight the war which has simmered for thirty years. Giancarlo Espositi's directional debut, GOSPEL HILL, is a gripping and revelatory tale of race, power, and the strength of the human spirit.
