Girl's Best Friend

Mary (Janeane Garofalo: Romy And Michelle’s High School Reunion) is a jaded, antisocial music critic. She stays in her apartment, never leaves Manhattan and pops her headphones on whenever she’s threatened with actual human communication. She’s fine with this behaviour, but people around her are starting to tire of it. Her boyfriend Jake (Kris Holden-Ried: The Tudors) is fed up with her lack of commitment and her refusal to listen to his band’s music. Then her boss orders her to take a vacation since her music reviews, which used to be brilliant and fair, have become cruel and jaded. So she sets off on a cross-country road with her mother’s lapdog Binky, where her heart begins to soften and eventually she manages to not only love the dog but to find room in her heart for the people around her.
