Description

THE DETECTIVE Tough detective Joe Leland (Frank Sinatra) gets the call to investigate the murder of Teddy Leikman, the homosexual son of a department store mogul. Leland scores a confession from Teddy's roommate, and the case is open-and-shut or is it Later, Leland uncovers other evidence implicating a corrupt New York City political machine. Lee Remick, Jack Klugman and Lloyd Bochner co-star. Gordon Douglas directs. LADY IN CEMENT In this sequel to Tony Rome, Sinatra is back as the Miami private eye. This time around he's hired by a small time hood (Dan Blocker) to find his missing girlfriend. In finding out the fate of the girl, Rome runs across a variety of shady characters, including a Mafia chieftain and a beautiful alcoholic, Kit Forrest (Raquel Welch) who instantly becomes the first suspect. The film takes a sharp twist when Rome is accused of the murder himself VON RYANS EXPRESS Frank Sinatra stars in this simmering mass-escape drama set in italy during the final days of WWII. The allies are beginning to push the Nazis back towards Germany when US combat pilot Col. Joseph Ryan (Sinatra) is shot down and joins American and English troops in a prison camp. The new-top ranking officer, he is initially more concerned with surviving than escaping, which earns him the nickname of Von Ryan. But in due time Ryan takes over from the commanding British officer (Trevor Howard), then masterminds a daredevil race for freedom with the Nazis in hot pursuit. From here on its all blazing action, hair-raising a heroic adventure that keeps right on going until the very last scene. THE MANCHURIAN CANDIDATE The Manchurian Candidate is the most poundingly suspenseful political thriller ever made (People Magazine) and remains one of the best and brightest of modern American films (Roger Ebert). Ask Major Bennett Marco (Frank Sinatra) and he'll say that Sergeant Raymond Shaw (Laurence Harvey) is a hero worthy of the Medal Of Honor. But despite what he says, Marco suspects otherwise. A bizarre, recurring nightmare gives him the uneasy feeling that Shaw is something far less heroic and far more insidious. Is it possible that Shaw is a traitor Can Marco convince the Army of his suspicions How does Shaw's power-mad mother (Angela Lansbury) figure into all this So many questions. So precious little time....
