Description
Five Card Stud:
A stranger is caught cheating in a game of five card stud in a Rincon, Colorado saloon in 1880. Van Moran (Dean Martin) unsuccessfully tries to save the gambler's life as the other five players lynch the cheat. Meanwhile, a gold rush has brought a group of outsiders to Rincon, like gun-toting preacher Jonathan Rudd (Robert Mitchum) and Lily Langford (Inger Stevens), with her collection of beautfil lady "barbers." When two townspeople are murdered, Van remembers that both victims were playing in the fatal card game. Tension mounts as the killer stalks the other players until, at last, two of the principals confront each other and, with a showdown gunfight, the case of the five card stud game murders is closed.
Paint Your Wagon:
Lee Marvin and Clint Eastwood star in this famous film version of the stage musical. Ben Rumson (Marvin) is a hard fighting, hard drinking, happy go lucky man. His ‘Pardner’ (Eastwood) on the other hand is sober, quiet and gentle. The film concerns their adventures in No Name City in search of gold. The film of course spawned the unlikely hit single ‘Wanderin’ Star’ sung by Lee Marvin (incidentally, Clint Eastwood also does a musical number). A raucous western comedy, Paint Your Wagon is punctuated with a classic Lerner and Loewe musical score, including "They Call the Wind Maria" and "I Talk to the Trees."
