Fergus (Stephen Rea, V For Vendetta) is an IRA "volunteer" who reluctantly takes part in the kidnapping of a black British soldier, Jody (Forest Whitaker, Ghost Dog, Panic Room), stationed in Northern Ireland. An uneasy friendship develops and a promise is made that should Jody die, Fergus will look in on his girlfriend, Dil (Jaye Davidson). After Jody is killed trying to escape, Fergus travels to London to make good on his promise. Tailing him are two fiercely loyal IRA operatives (Miranda Richardson and Adrian Dunbar). Good to his word, Fergus tracks down Dil, and they embark on a dangerous love affair.
