Description
The more you love... the harder you fight.
Set against the background of a racetrack, the fashion world and a boxing ring, The Champ is an incisive, deeply moving exploration into the arena of greatest conflict – the human heart. The story concerns a broken marriage and the inevitable effect on mother, a father and a child. Jon Voight is magnificent as Billy Flynn, an ex-boxing champion, managing to support his son and continually training for the comeback that never quite comes off. His son T.J. anxiously awaits the day when the Champ will once again dominate the ring. Faye Dunaway gives a superlative performance as Annie, the Champ's ex-wife who longs to reclaim her child when she sees him for the first time in seven years. The custody struggle sparks a battle that continues until the Champ finally returns to the ring, where he wins – and loses.
