Cannibal Holocaust (Ruggero Deodato's) - Deluxe Collector's Edition

Description

Banned in Australia since its release in the early 80's, Cannibal Holocaust was for years reviled as one of the most repugnant and morally questionable films ever made - and possibly the most horrifying ever!

The story concerns the efforts of a group of American explorers to discover the fate of a missing documentary film crew. They receive a scratchy film-reel containing the bloody truth from a tribe of tree-dwelling natives, and the reel's contents make up the bulk of the film.

The extremity of the violence portrayed was enough to put director Roberto Deodato in hot water with the law, and with censors who claimed it was far too realistic. There was a rumor that the performers had really been slain, so director Deodato had to take the actors with him to the set of an Italian TV show in order to prove that they hadn't been eaten alive!

A very original piece for its time which would later go on to be stolen by the writers of the Blair Witch Project, Cannibal Holocaust, although an important film in the history of cinema, stands the test of time as the most brutal film ever made.
