It was all about redemption and on Grand Final day 2009, the Geelong Cats displayed to the football world a team for the ages. With a second AFL Premiership in three years after the disappointment of 2008, the Cats were again number one.
In a season of great individual highlights Gary Ablett capped a memorable year by taking the Brownlow Medal and AFLPA MVP for a record third straight year, Paul Chapman won the Norm Smith Medal, Joel Selwood was honoured as the game’s most courageous player, Cameron Ling was outstanding and the Cats dominated the All Australian team.
