Description
A powerful story of corruption and betrayal.
An out-of-work pulp fiction novelist, Holly Martins, arrives in a post-war Vienna that has been divided into sectors by the victorious allies, and where a shortage of supplies has lead to a flourishing black market. He has come at the invitation of an ex-school friend, Harry Lime, who has offered him a job, but on arrival, discovers that Lime has recently died in a peculiar traffic accident. In talking to Lime's friends and associates, Martins soon notices that some of their stories are inconsistent, and determines to discover what really happened to Harry Lime. The ensuing mystery entangles him in his friend's involvement in the black market, with the multinational police, and a mysterious Czech woman.
Boasting an extraordinary visual style, superb performances and a subtle but sinister noir plot by celebrated 20th century novelist Graham Greene, The Third Man is a must have for any true cinema lover.
